Hey! I wanted to share that my beloved and eldest dog, Kasie, passed away this afternoon at the age of 16.5. She was exactly 10 years younger than me, and we shared the same birthday (25 October).
In the past few weeks, her body had become completely paralyzed, and she could barely move her head.
In her final moments, she was gasping for air but couldn’t inhale. Watching her like that was the most unbearable thing for me. It lasted for two minutes, and all I could do was say “sorry” over and over again. And after that, she was free.
But I’d say her passing was peaceful—she was surrounded by the people who comforted her, gave her warmth, and loved her.
If you’re an old friend, I want to thank you for playing with Kasie and for giving her free belly rubs. My child was so much more than a dog.
She’ll definitely be back, this time as a human—and maybe, she’ll play with your kids. Please ask them to be kind to her.
